my work as a radio dj is done on a volunteer basis for KRUU -- i receive
absolutely no compensation for my weekly broadcasts...
therefore, heather and i have set up the ability to
receive donations via paypal from friends who enjoy the show and like what
i do in general.
the donations through pay pal are not at any set rate...
heather and i just ask that a person gives what the music is worth to them
this is a similar scenario as radiohead and nine inch nails' recent
digital releases, however for the time being, a 3 hour broadcast is too
big to be shared without paying a service to accommodate file size, so
other methods will be employed
funds raised from donations goes toward online storage of large sound
files on myDataBus.com, general overhead of the studio and also toward
research and development for a special internet stream reserved for live
performances.
as awareness and support of this grows, we will give back to those who
helped in the early stages by adding early supporters to a database of
friends who will be eligible to receive
1. secret downloads =]
2. interdimensional gadgetry/goods and
3. private single-streamed live broadcasts
in this time of going greener, i feel that my carbon footprint will be
less if playing live can be done via digital means whenever possible.
creating our own broadcast stream will allow me to:
a) play live any time day or night from anywhere and to anywhere
b) stream prerecorded shows throughout the day and night
c) feature special broadcasts where we will switch the stream to a
dedicated line to be streamed solely to one location and in the highest
quality our bandwidth can handle.
creating a streaming station will lessen the carbon footprint of an
obvious world performance and will make it more affordable on many levels
to be connected to an audience in a performance setting -- anywhere in the
world.
